Annual maintenance pruning on fruit trees is best done when trees are dormant; here in northern Nevada that's mid-December to mid-March. Summer pruning may be done to manage tree size and to take out excessive growth. Summer pruning is usually done after fruiting. I provide pruning services for fruit trees in the Reno area and I give lessons on how to prune-your-own trees. Fruit trees are classified by size as dwarf, 5-8 ft tall, semi-dwarf, 8-16 ft tall, and standard trees, 18-25 ft tall and up. Annual pruning and clean-up on a well-maintained, semi-dwarf tree averages about $50 per tree; young trees or dwarf trees are less--standards and neglected/overgrown trees are more. I have a $60 minimum and will give you an free estimate before starting work. If you want to learn to prune your own trees and want to build your confidence by working alongside me, I'll be happy to teach you. If you like, get together with a neighbor or two and we'll do all your trees together. Lessons are $60 per hour and I'll haul off the cuttings. I am an ISA Certified Arborist; to find out more about the International Society of Arboriculture and why you should hire an arborist, visit www.isa-arbor.com. If you are interested having your fruit trees pruned or would like a pruning lesson, contact me and leave your name, address, email, phone number and the best time to call. Or call me at 722-6303. Thanks. |
